Transformation Of Jordan'S Textile Industry

The International Trade Center (ITC) reported on August 25 that the new crown epidemic has hit Jordan's textile and garment industry seriously, but Jordanian enterprises use the blockade period to carry out research and evaluation, looking for opportunities for enterprises to reshape. Some textile enterprises cooperated with medical enterprises to transform the production of medical masks and other medical textiles, and quickly obtained export licenses from the Jordanian food and Drug Administration (jfda) and the Royal Society of Sciences.

ITC carried out follow-up assessment and investigation on 21 Jordanian enterprises to study the impact of the epidemic on Jordan's garment manufacturing industry. According to the survey, almost all the enterprises surveyed are facing operational challenges. 94% of the participants' local sales declined, about half said that it was difficult to import, 26% had problems with domestic procurement, 85% had to stop production temporarily, 59% were ready to expand local and regional markets at any time, and 47% would invest in digital platforms and e-commerce.
