Vietnam'S Textile And Clothing Exports Fell By 255 Million US Dollars In The First Half Of August

According to Vietnam's "Customs online" on August 23, although July has shown a good recovery trend, but in the first half of August, Vietnam's exports of several major products fell unexpectedly. According to the data of Vietnam General Administration of customs, the total import and export volume of goods in Vietnam from 1 to 15 August was about 23.66 billion US dollars, a decrease of 7.2% (equivalent to a decrease of 1.85 billion US dollars) compared with the second half of July.

Specifically, in the first half of August, Vietnam's exports of goods amounted to US $12.68 billion, down 9% from the second half of July, equivalent to a decrease of US $1.25 billion. Commodities with a larger decline were as follows: computers, electronics and spare parts decreased by 438 million US dollars; textiles and clothing decreased by 255 million dollars; machinery, equipment and tools decreased by 206 million dollars; wood and wood products decreased by 78 million dollars; shoes decreased by 68 million dollars; aquatic products decreased by 65 million dollars. From the beginning of the year to August 15, Vietnam's total exports of goods amounted to about 160.24 billion US dollars, up 1.8% year on year.

In terms of imports, Vietnam's import volume in the first half of August was about 10.99 billion US dollars, down 5.2% from the second half of July, equivalent to a decrease of 600 million US dollars. The products with a large decline were: machinery, equipment and tools decreased by 108 million US dollars; computers, electronic products and parts decreased by 83 million dollars; and cloth decreased by 76 million dollars. From the beginning of the year to August 15, Vietnam's total import of goods was about 150.16 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 2.7%.
