In view of the fact that the leather industry has been facing financial difficulties, the Pakistan tannery Association (PTA) has issued a warning to the government that it should not impose any VAT on its leather and leather goods industry. According to the instructions of the world bank, the government is considering implementing the value added tax (VAT) policy to the above industries.

At the recent PTA meeting, Gulzar Firoz, President of the Pakistan tannery Association (PTA), said that the leather industry's export volume was reduced by 29%. He called on the State Bank of Pakistan to provide feedback on his proposal and provide some assistance to curb the continuous decline in leather exports.
