Prices have surged to a new high of 15 years.

Textile and apparel exporters in Asia say consumers may feel that the price of T-shirts and jeans is rising.

Drought occurred in China, floods in Pakistan, India banned cotton exports, resulting in a shortage of global cotton.

India is the world's second largest exporter of cotton. Earlier this year, domestic cotton was tight and India restricted cotton exports.

India is expected to resume cotton exports next month, but only 5 million 500 thousand packages, estimated to be 18% of the total output of 29 million 500 thousand packages this year, with a weight of 228 kg per pack.

However, India textile industry with 35 million employees is hoping to extend the export ban and raise the export tax because cotton can not meet domestic demand.

It said that prices jumped all the way, so the government postponed the export time, which affected the export business of cotton.

From the beginning of the year, India was short of cotton spot.

Cotton prices surged to a 15 year high this week, and prices have risen more than 40% since July.

China is the world's largest cotton producer, and the number of imports doubled in the first 8 months of this year as drought affected production.

Asian garment manufacturers can only accept high priced cotton.

Nguyen Son, vice president of Vietnam textile and Apparel Association, said the cost increased.

Therefore, Vietnamese clothing and textile manufacturers are also facing big problems with American retailers and importing merchants in raising prices.

He said that in Asia's growing economies, the rise in clothing prices may be more manageable than in western countries.

He said the final product price will ultimately depend on the purchasing power of consumers.

If China, India or Asian economies develop well, then there is no problem.

But in Europe and the United States, I doubt that garment manufacturers may pass the price cost on to the final buyers.

As the world's largest cotton exporters, the US, Brazil and Australia are expected to expand cotton exports, cotton supply is likely to increase in the coming months.

US exports of cotton are expected to increase by 29% over the previous year.

However, the cost of shipping from these countries may increase the cost of Asian garment manufacturers.

The US Department of Agriculture reports that global cotton consumption will outweigh stocks for sixth consecutive years.

China is the largest cotton consuming country in the world, and the import scale is expected to expand by 16% this year.
